DBA were appointed as Transportation Consultants for the development of brownfield land surrounding Dykebar Hospital, Paisley to deliver a major residential development of 603 new homes. Our transportation department provided strategic transport advice from the outset, in order to deliver a planning consent and a sustainable and well-connected development.
As part of the planning process, DBA prepared a Transport Assessment (TA) including detailed road network modelling and the design of key junction improvements. Current planning policy also places a strong emphasis on active travel, and DBA assessed enhanced footway connections, new cycle infrastructure, and undertook a Safe Routes to School assessment to promote safe and sustainable travel from the new residential development. We also carefully considered the phasing and implementation of transport improvements following planning consent, assisting the developers in the deliverability of the scheme. To further support sustainable travel, DBA developed a public transport strategy, engaging with local bus operators and Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) to allow the development to be connected by local bus services.
The development was granted planning consent at appeal, with DBA providing transportation information to support the process. This included preparation of the transport chapter of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and providing technical evidence to demonstrate the acceptability of the development in transport terms.
