FERGUS ADAMS

Managing Director

Fergus is Managing Director of Dougall Baillie Associates and has over 25 years’ experience in Civil Engineering and Water Management. Fergus is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and in 2003 he graduated Strathclyde Business School with an MBA. Fergus fully supports the development of all staff in the Civil Engineering department and the company, acting as DBA’s Training Manager among his other duties. He has directed and managed significant multi-disciplinary programmes of work in Scotland. Fergus is also an Incorporated Member of the Association of Project Safety and oversees the company’s Principal Designer roles.

SCOTT MACPHAIL

Director - Civil Engineering

Scott is a Director with Dougall Baillie Associates and has over 20 years’ experience in Civil Engineering, he joined DBA as a graduate engineer and has since gained widespread expertise across the industry in Transportation, Civil Engineering and Water Management. Scott graduated from the University of Strathclyde with BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, and is also a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. Scott has developed expertise in complex computer modelling and simulation techniques with extensive experience of design for large multi-disciplinary programmes of work in Scotland along with Project and Site Management for both Private and Public-sector clients.

SIMON DOW

Associate - Civil Engineering

Simon is an Associate with Dougall Baillie Associates and has over 12 years’ experience in Civil Engineering, he joined DBA following graduation from the University of Strathclyde with BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, followed by a MSc in Civil Engineering and Construction Management. Simon is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, an approved NEC3 Project Manager, and a Chartered Manager. Simon brings experience in the fields of site design and supervision, and delivery of large highway infrastructure schemes.

JIM ASHWOOD

Consultant - Civil Engineering

Jim is a consultant to Dougall Baillie Associates and has over 35 years' experience in the Industry. Jim is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and has specialised in Highway Engineering Design since 1985 for Major Urban and rural road projects for both Private and Public Sector Clients. Acting as a consultant to Dougall Baillie Associates, Jim continues to contribute the knowledge gained through years of technical expertise and practical experience throughout the field of Civil Engineering, particularly in relation to Major Highway Infrastructure and Motorway projects.

ALAN FERNS

Director - Structural Engineering

Alan is a Director with Dougall Baillie Associates and has over 18 years’ experience in Structural Engineering. Alan graduated from the University of Glasgow with BSc in Civil Engineering, and graduated from the University of Strathclyde with MSc in Computer Aided Engineering Design. Alan is a Chartered Engineer and an Approved Certifier of Design (Building Structures). He has worked on numerous residential, health, retail and commercial developments throughout Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England for both private and public-sector clients.

BLAIR SIM

Associate - Structural Engineering

Blair is an Associate with Dougall Baillie Associates with over 11 years of experience in Structural Engineering. Blair joined DBA following graduation from Herriot-Wat University in 2007 with BEng (Hons) in Structural Engineering. Blair is a graduate member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, an Associate Member of the Association for Project Safety (AaPS), and NEC3 accredited project manager (NECReg). Blair also supports the role in DBA SER Certification as Certification Coordinator. Blair has developed a great deal of experience across the structural engineering industry including design and delivery of residential and commercial projects.

STUART HARROW

Director - Transportation

Stuart is a Director with Dougall Baillie Associates and has over 20 years’ experience in Traffic and Transportation Engineering. Stuart joined DBA in 1997 as a graduate Civil Engineer where he was involved in the detailed design of residential roads and drainage schemes before moving to the Transport department. Stuart went onto specialise in transportation planning and assessment for both public and private sector clients. Stuart graduated from the University of Strathclyde with BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, Stuart is also a Chartered Engineer and is a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

COLIN WEIR

Associate - Transportation

Colin is an Associate with Dougall Baillie Associates and has been with Dougall Baillie Associates since Graduation in 2008 from University of West Scotland with BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering with Project Management. Colin has subsequently completed a MSc in Transport Planning from Edinburgh Napier University in 2011. Colin is a graduate member of both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation. Colin's experience extends to transportation planning and advice on a range of residential and major commercial projects.

ROBIN DUNCAN

Consultant - Transportation

Robin is a consultant to Dougall Baillie Associates and has over 30 years’ experience in Civil, Traffic and Transportation Engineering. Robin joined DBA as a graduate engineer and has since gained extensive knowledge and experience in both disciplines in a wide range of applications. Robin is a chartered engineer and a member of both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation. Robin manages the delivery of all DBA’s transport projects, which cover schemes of all planning classes, ranging from strategic business/commercial or residential master-plans to local and rural schemes of more modest scale.
