We are looking for a Senior Engineer to help meet our current work load and growth of the business going forward.

You will be working in a supportive and collaborative team on a range of projects from small scale access assessments to the preparation of Transportation Assessments for strategic development sites.

You will be a key addition to their team, contributing to the continued development of the Transport Planning team and wider business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop transport infrastructure scheme designs in line with industry guidance and standards
  • Undertake and oversee road network analysis
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of technical reports (Transportation Assessments, Access Appraisals, Travel Plans etc)
  • Managing junior technical staff, providing briefings and checking technical work
  • Manage budgets and programmes that match ability
  • Mentoring and training team members
  • Contribute to proposal and report writing
  • Contribute to identifying new client opportunities, business development


Starting Salary – £38,000 – £42,000 (Subject to experience)

Job Spec

You will be able to demonstrate the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in civil engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience in transport engineering and planning with demonstrable skills in all or some of the following:
  • Development planning
  • Traffic engineering
  • Working knowledge of Junctions 9, LINSIG, TRANSYT and Paramics Discovery
  • Infrastructure design applying SCOTS / DMRB roads design principles
  • Feasibility studies
  • Sustainable transport planning
  • Experience building team and client relationships with commercial/business acumen
  • A member of a relevant professional organisation (such as CIHT or ICE) ideally on route to incorporated or chartered status
  • Experience of AutoCAD and traffic sign design software
  • Experience in business development activities, preferably able to demonstrate successful input into bids and tenders
  • MSc or further postgraduate qualifications related to transport planning or transport engineering would be beneficial
