Graduate – Transportation Engineer / Planner

We are looking for a Graduate to join our Transportation department and play a part in growing our team and wider business. Some experience in the Transportation field would be advantageous however, a desire to develop into the role is required.

You will be working in a supportive and collaborative team on a range of projects from small scale access assessments to the preparation of Transportation Assessments for strategic development sites.

You will be a key addition to our team, contributing to the continued development of the Transport Planning team and the wider Dougall Baillie Associates business.

Key Responsibilities:

Prior experience is not necessary however, an interest in transport engineering / planning would be required. Building on an applicable existing skill set you will be involved in the following role:

  • Assisting in the initial drafting of transport infrastructure scheme designs using AutoCAD.
  • Data analysis.
  • Assisting in road network analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports (Transportation Assessments, Access Appraisals, Travel Plans etc)


Starting Salary – £28,000 TBC

Job Spec

You will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in civil engineering or a related numerate discipline.
  • Microsoft office.
  • An interest in transport engineering and planning with some experience in the following would be beneficial:
    • Development planning
    • Traffic engineering
    • Feasibility studies
    • Sustainable transport planning
    • Working knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS)
    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
