School Projects

DBA has extensive experience in undertaking transport assessments for new schools and the expansion of existing school estates on behalf of local authorities and Tier 1 contractors across Scotland.

Safety is a fundamental consideration, particularly in protecting pupils as vulnerable road users. Our approach places a strong emphasis on creating safe, efficient, and accessible environments that encourage sustainable travel choices.

Our assessments consider all key transport and access requirements associated with school developments, including pedestrian and cycle access, vehicular access arrangements, school bus and servicing provision, parking and pick up / drop off requirements. We work closely with local authorities and design teams to develop practical transport layouts tailored to the needs and location of each school.

DBA also undertakes reviews of safe routes to school and the surrounding transport network to identify opportunities for off-site improvements that enhance connectivity and encourage active travel. Our team develops practical recommendations to improve walking, wheeling, and cycling infrastructure, helping to create safer and healthier journeys for pupils and staff.

Through this approach, DBA has successfully supported the planning, design, and operation of schools throughout Scotland.
