Pencloe Windfarm

East Ayrshire

Client: Invenergy

Section: Renewables

DBA undertook a comprehensive transport route assessment to support the delivery of the Pencloe Wind Farm’s turbine components. This included a programme of surveys, site visits and swept path analyses to identify physical constraints that could affect the movement of oversized loads such as turbine blades, nacelles and towers. Based on these findings, DBA produced detailed engineering designs to modify sections of the trunk road, local roads and off-site access routes. These modifications ensured that the transport of turbine components from the port of entry to the site could be carried out safely and efficiently. The work was a critical element in enabling the successful delivery of the turbine components required for the project.

Testimonial

“DBA was a dependable partner in helping to deliver the Pencloe Wind Farm from development through construction. By commissioning a transport route assessment with DBA our team was able to plan our approach for delivery of turbine components well in advance of starting construction, and DBA was responsive to assist us during the delivery period as well.”

Work Done
  • Delivering a total installed capacity of 81 MW, the project is set to play a vital role in Scotland’s drive toward cleaner energy and net zero goals. The project features eighteen new Vestas V136-4.5 MW wind turbines.
